Hindsight

A little over a year ago Brian found out that he had not been accepted to medical school for the fall of 2008 after only being invited to interview at one school.  We were pretty bummed about that.

Brian reminded me yesterday that about a year ago we found out we were pregnant, which happened on the first cycle of fertility meds.

The following year Brian revamped his medical school application, got an interview at every school that he applied to (6 total) and has been accepted to his number one choice.

That one year changed our lives forever.  Zoey was meant to be here!  God is the giver of blessings and He's got it all under control!!

Brian got an e-mail last Thursday with an acceptance to UT-Houston Medical School.  We could not be more excited!  This means a lot of things for us: we don't have to spend 6 months apart, we don't have to try and sell our house that's in an unfinished neighborhood for a loss, we don't have to spend a gagillion dollars on plane flights for Brian to fly back to Houston all the time, we'll be closer to our families, etc.  Brian is very excited about this news and has already ventured to the UT bookstore to buy himself a t-shirt. :)

Zoey continues to light up our lives.  Here are some things she's doing these days:

1) Holding her head up like a champ and thinking about rolling over.

2) Hanging out in her exersaucer and working those chunky legs.

3) Eating rice cereal but not entirely sure what to think about it.

4) And of course looking super cute! :)

Just a few pics. . .

These are just a few pics I've taken over the past few days. (My attempt to be a better blogger)

This is Brian's attempt to get Zoey to fill in for him at work. . . :)

"I Love Daddy"

Zoey is finally warming up to the swing idea, she swung for a whole 10 minutes today without screaming. :)

4 Months

It's hard to believe that it's already been four months. At her check-up Zoey was 12 lbs. 11 oz. and 24 inches long. She is growing like the weeds in our front yard. She is really fun at this age - she is starting to smile and laugh a lot more and is becoming very aware of her surroundings. Something unique about Zoey is that she has two different colored eyes right now. Her right eye is green and her left eye is blue. Here are a couple pics.

I have also recently figured out how to upload video, so I hope you enjoy watching Zoey laugh with her Daddy.

In other news, many of you know that Brian has been applying to medical school. Well, the state match occurred on February 1st and he matched with Texas Tech in Lubbock. This means that unless we hear from Baylor (here in Houston) or he somehow gets pulled off the waiting list of another close school, we'll be moving back to Lubbock. The only thing is that I will have to be in Houston through December and couldn't move up to be with him in Lubbock until Christmas break. Same goes for Zoey. We will probably know our final situation at the beginning of April. So if you could just pray that God puts us where we need to be and that whatever the outcome it won't be too stressful on our family.

TWO Months (and Thanksgiving)

Our sweet baby girl is now two months old, time has flown. At her 2 month check up she weighed 8lbs. 14 oz. and was 21 inches long. She is doing great and gaining plenty of weight (as is evident by her chubby cheeks). Her longest stint of sleep at night varies from about 5 to 6 hours, which is nice.

Here she is after her Dr.'s appointment (after 3 shots and 2 bright pink bandaids)

In her Bumbo at 2 months - this is how we've decided to mark her progress for now

She loves to walk around with Daddy in her carrier (around the house of course)

Zoey and Evelyn checking each other out on Thanksgiving

. . and of course watching the Cowboys

ONE Month

Zoey is one month old today (well, yesterday) - I can't believe it. Brian and I have REALLY enjoyed becoming parents and having Zoey home for these past couple of weeks. She is a true blessing and an answer to many prayers. Here are some pictures from the past couple of weeks.
Her first bath:
She enjoys her warm baths and gets so comfy that she falls asleep:

We had our final baby shower in San Antonio:

And Zoey got to meet her cousin Evelyn (born on 9/18/08) and her uncle Matt:

As Promised, Some Pics. . .

Her first carseat ride - she wasn't quite sure what was going on

We tried out the swing, but it kind of swallowed her up

She likes to peek at us out of one eye, and she really likes to move her arms around and keep her hands on her face. (She has a tendency to scratch herself, thus, the mittens.)

Sleeping peacefully in her ducky pjs - thanks Aunt Mel!

And here she is doing what she loves best - stretching out.

Zoey's HOME!

Zoey got to come home yesterday evening, and we are thrilled to finally have her home! :) We'll post more pictures later!
